Juniors win Lancashire tournament

Thorncliffe Juniors new look U13 squad played their first competitive games of a new season at the HSC Tournament over in Haslingden, Lancashire on Saturday 30 June running out tournament winners.

Thorncliffe faced teams from Stockport, Burnley, Oldham, Manchester and Barrow in Furness en route to the final where they faced Walshaw Park from Bury. The group buoyed by new signings Josh Redmond and Bobby Scaife, who really hit the ground running in his first appearances for the club top scoring on the day with six goals, played some very neat passing football with good shape & discipline to the team structure as they progressed through the group stage scoring 8 goals without reply to top the table.

The final saw Thorncliffe race into a 2-0 lead, dominating the play and playing into some very good areas to create chances and force set play re start opportunity, looking comfortable throughout the game and never looking like relinquishing the lead despite Walshaw Park grabbing a late consolation goal with around two minutes left to play.
