STOCKSBRIDGE CC JUNIORS ACHIEVE YORKSHIRE RECOGNITION
Posted 28 June, 2012

The strength of Stocksbridge CC's junior section was again underlined last week with the news that two players will be representing Yorkshire in 2012. Chris Pickford is in the U13 boys squad, whilst Rhiannon Evans will be playing for the Girls U11s. Both juniors have worked extremely hard over the winter, have excelled in their age groups recently and their selection is just deserts for this hard work and determination. Well done to both juniors and we wish them well this year.

Stocksbridge I 45-1 beat Hundall I 42 a.o. (Les Harris 3-3, Jim Tomlinson 3-7) by 9 wickets
Stocksbridge I got rewarded for their efforts in getting this weekend's fixture with Hundall on as they routed the visitors in a reduced-over game. to close the gap over Parkhead at the top of the table to just a single point. A mopping up operation got the wicket relatively dry in time for a 4pm start with the game being reduced to 26 overs per side. Stocksbridge won a crucial toss and prospered in the face of meek batting from a poor Hundall outfit. No batter was able to even make double figures as they were shot out for 42 by a combination of Les Harris 3-3, Jim Tomlinson and Colin Vickers 2-5. In response Stocksbridge lost Wayne Hughes for 14 but Dave Codd (12*) and Matt Singleton (17*) saw them to victory inside eleven overs.
2nd XI, 3rd XI and Sunday XI fixtures were all cancelled due to inclement weather
Stocksbridge U11s 249-2 beat Handsworth U11s 177-9
