Dear Editor, I recently stood as a candidate in the local elections for the United Kingdom Independent Party (UKIP). I would like to take this opportunity, through your letters page to say a big thank you to every one in the Penistone East area who voted for me. It was the first time a UKIP candidate had stood in this ward and to take 18.9% of the vote was encouraging. I will continue to work passionately for my party as I believe they really care for the welfare of this country and its people. Through your votes you proved that you care also.
