Brid exact revenge on Steels

A goal in each half was enough to see off the Steels in this tough east coast encounter.

For the second week in succession Steels started slowly but this time the difference in quality of opposition showed as the home side fired the Seasider’s into the lead within five minutes of the kick off.

The goal seemed to unsettle the visitors who struggled to get in to the game for the first fifteen minutes but slowly the Steels started to build pressure on the home side with Woolley and Callery make surging runs down both wings.

The pressure was unrewarded though with both Muldoon and Ring going agonisingly close but this was a good as it got for the hard working Steels attack.

There were four changes made at the half time break with Lovell, Eagers, Hawes, and Ward replacing Green, Leonard, Wilkinson and Ring. This paid immediate dividends as a low cross from Muldoon was met by Mark Ward who made no mistake from five yards out to level the score. The rest of the half was a tense affair with both teams going close but neither being able to provide the killer finish.

As the game was drawing to a close an error in the Steels midfield led a pass rebounding in to the space between the Steels two centre backs who were unable to stop the grateful Bridlington attackers finishing the game on a high, exacting a little revenge for the heavy defeat suffered two seasons ago.

Team - Adam Ogden, Richard Stirrup, Darren Schofield, Kevin Dawson, Adam Green, Alex Callery, Ben Leonard, Steve Wilkinson, Steve Woolley, Jack Muldoon, Andy Ring.

Subs: Mark Ward, Brett Lovell, Steve Hawes, Jordan Eagers.

Stocksbridge PS first team squad, this season, boasts two ex-junior players. Kevin Davies and Ashley Ellis both came through the successful junior system at the club to play in the newly named Evostick premier division. Stocksbridge PS are the highest placed South Yorkshire club  in the semi-professional football pyramid.
