LONGSANDS CONFIRM NATIONWIDE TOUR SUPPORT WITH BRUCE FOXTON’S BAND: ‘FROM THE JAM’
When the national pressed tipped The Longsands as a ‘Newcastle band set to be huge’ with a ‘stadium sized swagger’ (The People) they may not have been far off the mark!
On the back of relentless hard work and the quality of both their live and recorded work The Longsands can confirm that they have been invited by Bruce Foxton (The Jam) and Russell Hastings to be main support on the From The Jam nationwide winter tour this December.
The tour begins on December 1st in Liverpool and covers virtually every major UK city ending in a grand finale at Shepherds Bush 02 Empire on December 16th. The tour will see The Longsands warming up the crowds for From The Jam in some of the biggest and most prestige venues in the country with the band playing to over 20,000 new fans nationwide.
Having toured the UK and Europe over the last few years releasing self penned singles, which have charted No 1 & No 2 in HMV store charts, The Longsands have been knocking on the door to national recognition for a while.
However, of recent the band have really raised the bar which has seen them appearing with acts such as The Complete Stone Roses, Bonehead (Oasis), The Hoosiers and just weeks ago headlining to over 900 people at the Newcastle 02 academy.
They have a debut album fresh out of the studio – working title: ‘Meet Me in Spanish City’ which producer Fred Purser has described as ‘one of the great debut albums of its kind’. Steve White (Paul Weller / Style Council) described the songs as ‘anthemic, true, and from the heart’ when The Longsands performed with him in Newcastle earlier this year.
The Longsands’ management are also in advanced talks with two major record labels regarding the release of their debut album. Representatives from Sony (BMG) and Universal are expected to be watching The Longsands closely over the duration of this tour, along with a whole host of independent record labels. It remains to be seen who will be in first to snap up Britain’s hottest unsigned rock n roll act!
Songwriter Ian Barnes commented:
‘It’s great the management are coming to us saying: this label and that label want to see us play, but we try not to think about that stuff, if it happens it happens! We are just proud to be invited onto this tour and playing our music to the fans of one of the greatest bands of all time’.
The Longsands are also offering a free download off their debut album. The track is called Worlds Collide and can be downloaded at the link below:
