Blow away wind farm myths with visit
IN a spin over wind power? Then why not find out the answers for yourself – for free.
Evelop UK is inviting people from Stocksbridge and Penistone to take a look at a wind farm now up and running in east Yorkshire.
The wind farm, which has recently been switched on, uses 125 metre turbines from the same manufacturer as the ones proposed for Sheephouse Heights.
Olly Buck, project manager for Evelop UK, said: “There’s lots of myths about wind farms, so we thought the best way to dispel them was to let people find out for themselves.
“That’s why we have laid on the trip so people can see them, hear how quiet a modern wind farm is and speak to some of the locals over a pub lunch to see that living with a wind farm just isn’t a problem.
“It really is an opportunity for people to get a closer look at a modern working wind farm.”
The trip to Lissett takes place on Saturday, August 22and the coach will pick up from outside The Venue on Manchester Road, Stocksbridge at 9am and from the St John’s Hall, Penistone, at 9.15am. Pub lunch will be provided and the coach will return
about 3pm.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
Olly added: “We were hoping to take people in June but it looks like August is a better time for everyone and we hope people take up our offer to find out answers for themselves.”
Anybody interested in joining the trip to Lissett should log on to www.sheephouseheightswindfarm.co.uk and register their details.
The team from Evelop UK will then contact them – and those who expressed an interest at the two public exhibitions earlier this year – to confirm arrangements.
